2008 Summer Fellowship Program

The Graduate School at the University of Dayton annually awards competitive fellowships that help provide a modest income for graduate students who wish to devote time to research and creative scholarly projects during the third (summer) term of the academic year.

New for 2008

Two types of fellowships will be available in 2008:

(1) Graduate Student Summer Fellowships:  Consistent with the summer fellowships that have been awarded in recent years, these will include a stipend of $2,200 each and are intended to enable students to devote a portion of their time over the summer to scholarly research.

(2) Graduate School Dean's Summer Fellowships:  A limited number of fellowships with stipends of $5,500 each will also be made available on a trial basis this year, based on a proposal made by the Research & Scholarship Subcommittee of the Graduate Leadership Council.  These are intended to recognize superior research and to provide recipients with the opportunity to dedicate full-time effort to scholarly research over the summer.

Students may apply for either or both types of fellowships.  The total number of fellowships to be awarded in 2008 will be consistent with the numbers awarded in recent years.

Please review the following documents regarding submittal of proposals.  The deadline for receipt of proposals is 12N on Monday, March 3, 2008.
